  1. New Events: new events approved for Washington, DC.
  2. "Two Events of Same Distance on Same Day" Policy (finalized rule-for-organizers change language) - "It is desired by the ACP and RUSA that a single brevet is run on a particular day by an RBA. If, however, an RBA wants to run multiple events on the same day, that is allowed only if the riders sign up for and ride one particular brevet. (In any case, an RBA may only offer multiple events where they are of meaningfully different distances. For example, a 200k and a 300k may be run as multiple events on the same day, but not a 200k and a 220k.) The RBA must have specific sign-in sheets for each event run that day. No changes are allowed whatsoever once the start has been taken. Any RBA who runs more than one ACP brevet per day must--after making photocopies first--mail the original sign-in sheets to the Brevet Coordinator immediately after the conclusion of the events to show that the riders results being submitted match the appropriate sign-in sheets. Note that this is not required of RUSA brevets. Lacking this verification by the RBA, all of his/her ACP event results submitted for that day will not be processed."
  3. RBA Resignation / Succession Policy (new language) - To assure continuity in a region's event schedule and have the smallest impact on ridership, RBAs are encouraged to identify a successor as far in advance of resignation as possible. Communication with the RBA Liaison about the intent to resign will also aid in a smooth transition, and notify the Board of the plans for the region. This will faciliate a smooth application process for the successor RBA. Due to the running of the season, and the requirements for calendar submissions, the timing of an RBA's resignation and the application of the successor are critical.
    • RBAs should make every effort to notify the Board of a resignation no later than July 15 of the RBA's final season of events.
    • If a successor is available and has not already been identified to the RBA Liaison, the existing RBA should supply the name and a recommendation along with notice of resignation to the Board.
    • It is important to note that if an RBA must resign on short notice or after July 15 of his/her final season, some or all of the region's events may need to be cancelled by the Board.
    • In any event, a prospective successor RBA must submit an RBA application by August 1 in order to hold ACP events in the following season. As noted in the application procedures, the application is submitted to the RBA Liaison and brought before the board for approval.
  4. Board Election Voting - The bylaws allow 45 days for voting, but some members have not received their newsletter yet. We are extending (and publicizing) the voting deadline to December 31 to accommodate the newsletter.
  5. Rules for Riders - Revision approved and posted by the Bill Bryant and the Rules Committee. It's a combination of translation of ACP, clarity for RUSA rules, and cleanup. See the website for latest details.
  6. 1200k Guidebook - This new publication is now in final form, and will be published for use by aspiring RUSA 1200k organizers.
  7. Staffing for RUSA/ACP award administration in 2007 - For better member service, we are distributing the responsibility for various awards (ACP brevet medals and Super-Randonneur and Randonneur-5000 medals, and RUSA distance medals) to several volunteers. This is a (welcome) consequence of ridership growth and rider achievements!
  8. Emergency ID Cards - We are continuing the program of providing new members (and veteran members who haven't received them) Emergency ID cards, which we hope will be at the very least a safety reminder.
