American Randonneur Award - John Lee Ellis

Approved moving Tom Rosenbauer's event to Jan 12 due to extreme weather conditions, run as a RUSA event if necessary

  3. Proposal to Remove ACP and RM as "Named Insureds" Language in RBA Procedures

Susan France had asked for clarification if these were required. There has been no request from ACP and/or RM to be named insureds. Would need to be removed from the RBA procedures (pg 12)

Moved to eliminate from RBA procedures (which the RBA Liaison does), seconded. Approved unanimously.

  4. PBP 2015 Preliminary Planning

Clarify that there will be pre-registration based on longest distance in 2014, and must ride a full series in 2015. Now requires selection of a start wave time when registering.

  5. American Randonneur Newsletter:

Mailing date - should be in the mail March 1.

  6. RUSA Member Handbook Update

New handbook is in the editing process. Expected completion/availability is May.

  7. RUSA Website Committee Meeting Summary

Main goal is that the site continues to be secure, stable and functioning.

  8. Reflectivity

A reflectivity proposal was presented. Should we ask riders to have vests/reflective gear which meets a specific standard, such as EN1150, when we don't have that standard here? Or should we require some minimum area of reflective material?

There are many secondary considerations - do we make reflective tape available to riders to bring their gear up to standard at the beginning of the ride? Do we give it away? Do we sell it? What should be done when a rider shows up without the required reflective gear? How can we make it easier for the riders AND the ride organizers/RBAs?

The RUSA store offers subsidized reflective, wind-resistant vests. It was requested that RUSA also offer women's sizing.

Many implementation issues were discussed, and education was recommended rather than enforcement.

  9. Director Reports

    Treasury

Insurance quote for the coming year has been received. New rate is 1.95 per rider day.

In 2013, RUSA spent $21700 on insurance. The total amount is going up, as there is greater participation on permanents and brevets. This is a $1500 total increase from 2012, including a .02 increase in the rate.
