For years American randonneurs have received traditional Audax Club Parisien medals, imported from France, for each brevet they complete, but now there are some new RUSA medals to add to the hard-earned collection. RUSA members can get a special award (or two) for their season-long total of brevet kilometers. The 2000 brevet season was the first year of this medal program and it was a success. Overall, forty-one randonneurs and randonneuses from around the US applied after completing their brevets. Randonneurs USA sends hearty congratulations to each and every one of these determined riders. Some earned the 1000K medal, while others went after the 2000K. Eight resolute souls earned both! We look forward to seeing more names on the list at the conclusion of the 2001 randonneuring season! Standard RUSA brevets of 200k, 300k, 400k, 600k, and 1000k, held between January and November 2001, will be the qualifying events. For specific rules and more information on how to apply for the RUSA 1000k or 2000k medal or to see a list of winners, go to the RUSA Awards page. Bonne route et bon courage!
